Plainwell Inc agreed to sell its Consumer Products Division to Perkins Paper Ltd for a purchase price of $64.2 million. The sale included two tissue mills at Eau Clair and Ransom, and converting and distribution facilities for the Ransom mill facility located near Pittson. The transaction is likely by October 31, 2001 and is expected to enhance the position of Perkins Paper Ltd as a one of the leaders in private label tissue marketing in North America.
