摘要
Taking the advantages of the negative dispersion and the arbitrary phase modulation of the binary elements, a hybrid refractive/diffractive optical system of see-through head-mounted display for augmented reality (AR) with 21 mm eye relief, 8 mm exit pupil and 40° (H) × 30° (V) field-of-view was designed. The resolution of the designed optical system reaches 0.7 mrad which is close to eye's minimum resolution, the lateral chromatic aberration is less than 42 μm for visible light band, and the maximum distortion is less than 2%. In addition the weight of designed optical system is only 16.2 g, and the diameter is less than 46 mm. So the designed optical system satisfies the requirements of a binocular head-mounted display for AR.
