Privatization of British Road - A missed opportunity

In 1992, British Rail (BR) underwent some organizational restructuring aimed at making the railways operations more efficient. That restructuring efforts did not include any privatization. Only later, in 1996, privatization began resulting in breaking up the BR system. Since then it became obvious that the privatization was a failure, at least in terms of the railroad infrastructure.
