Simultaneous transmission of multiple periodic CSI reports in LTE-A

In order to avoid dropping the periodic CSI (Channel State Information) report frequently in case of collision between multiple periodic CSI reports for different CCs (Component Carriers) in LTE-Advanced system, this paper gives two schemes which are PUCCH (Physical Uplink Control Channel) format 3 and modified PUCCH format 3 for simultaneous transmission of multiple periodic CSI reports in a given uplink subframe. The link level simulation results indicate that both of PUCCH format 3 and modified PUCCH format 3 can effectively support transmitting multiple periodic CSI reports in a given uplink subframe. At the same time, the system level simulation results show that using PUCCH format 3 and modified PUCH format 3, the downlink throughput has significant improvement compared with PUCCH format 2 which only feedback one periodic CSI report in a given uplink subframe. Hence, through modified PUCCH format 3, we can not only enhance simultaneous transmission of multiple periodic CSI reports in a given uplink subframe, which can improve downlink throughput, but also guarantee the similar BER (Bit Error Rate) performance of PUCCH format 3. © 2014 Binary Information Press
