Seeing big and seeing double

Various display technology manufacturers introduced their latest large-format and autosteroscopic LCD devices at the SID International Symposium 2004 held at Seattle. LG. Philips LCD exhibited 30-, 37-, and 42-inch panels for television, and showed their 55-inch LCD prototype. Global Display Solutions (GDS) showed 32-, 37- and 46-inch panels for digital signage while Optrex America showed 30- and 40-inch panels designed for public-information displays. SeeReal Technologies GmbH of Germany showed a unique display that provides 3-D view and Eastman Kodak Co. showed a single-user display with a pupil-imaging design that presents the image at infinity with a large field of view. Light Space Technologies showed its DepthCube that uses 20 LC-shutter layers to create a volumetric 3-D image that can be viewed by many users simultaneously.
