摘要
Operators face the challenge of extending DSL coverage and increasing bandwidth, a situation which is driving the need for DSL deployment in remote locations. There are various technologies (flavors of DSL) and remote deployment models (FTTArea, FTTCab, FTTH etc) that can be considered to meet this need. This article proposes evolutionary pathways that can optimize business objectives such as profitability, evolvability, rapid market coverage and revenue creation while achieving the coverage and bandwidth goals. In the end, there is not a single solution. However, the optimal approach is one that evolves towards the end game in stages and which uses a multifunction access platform that can flexibly and transparently handle multiple access technologies at the same time.
