The field-pattern of various resonant modes of THz resonators with two-dimensional photonic band gap structure is simulated by using numerical calculation method. The quality factor (Q-factor) of the resonators is calculated and the affection of the photonic crystal's structure and the defect's geometrical parameters on the resonance characters are analyzed. The high order modes with their frequencies laying in the photonic band gap is gained. The larger the defect's transverse dimension is, the higher the order of the resonance mode becomes. The simulated resonator in this work shows very high Q-factor. Moreover, the Q-factor is sensitively affected by the longitudinal length of the resonator.
