This paper presents a short review of zeolite history. The explanation of crystal structures of zeolites, their primary, secondary and tertiary building units are illustrated as well. Description of topology, chemistry and of ion-exchange properties is focused predominantly on clinoptilotile species. Chapters 4, 5 and 6 deal with the principles of adsorption and ion-exchange processes involving zeolites. Finally, case studies of ammonium removal from drinking water with increased ammonium concentration by means of laboratory model are presented. The laboratory results are succeeded in field installation of the loading capacity of 900 dm3/h for tannery wastewaters at Waste Water Reclamation Facility in Moravia (former Czechoslovakia).
