Fair priority-based wavelength assignment method for WDM networks

Priority-based wavelength assignment methods, such as the Assignment Quota Method, have been proposed to provide different blocking probabilities for traffic with different priorities. However, fairness is still an important issue in these methods. A new priority-based wavelength assignment method named the Fair Assignment Quota Method was developed to improve the fairness by making the quota increase with distance. Simulation results illustrate that the new method has more balanced blocking probabilities for paths with different lengths.
