VAI completed upgradation and installation of a slab casting automation system at Dansteel, Denmark. The upgraded system was used to achieve constant surface temperatures during casting speed changes that are significant in caster bending and straightening. Slab quality investigations following installation of the automation system showed reduced internal cracks for rolled plates and significant reduction in macrosegregation.
