To estimate the frequency of sinusoidal signals in noise accurately, an algorithm of frequency estimation for sinusoidal signals with arbitrary length is researched. The lengths of the samples are taken as integral powers of 2 and the frequency of truncated sequences is estimated based on the interpolation algorithm. The corresponding index of maximum amplitude of spectrum for the original signal is given according to the relationship among the frequency, the frequency resolution and the index of spectrum with biggest amplitude. The frequency estimation for sinusoidal signals with arbitrary length is solved by using interpolation. Simulation results show that the performances of the proposed algorithm do not vary with the change of signal frequency and attains the Cramer-Rao lower bound of sinusoidal signal.
