摘要
The state of the chemical fibre industry in 2000-2001 is described. Signs of recovery are apparent after the slowdown of 1999, mainly due to the vitality of the technical textile sector. Natural fibres continue to decline, with consumers increasingly attracted to fibre blends with special attributes. The article gives production figures according to types of fibre and areas of production. The situation in western Europe is described: the balance of trade in the textile and clothing industry; consumption of textiles for clothing and for industrial uses; and production, export and percentage of production capacity used. The situation in Italy is highlighted with a description of the textile industry, the balance of trade of the textile and clothing industry, and the chemical fibre industry.
