The necessity and principles of the power control of mobile terminals in global system for mobile communication/general packet radio service (GSM/GPRS) system were explained. Realization of the transmission powers control was described generally. Two methods to calibrate the transmitting power of the mobile terminal were presented. The two methods were verified in practical environment, and the result matched the GSM/GPRS protocol s requirement on transmitting power of the mobile terminal very well. Then an analysis and comparison of the two methods based on that result was given. Considering the methods application in exact power control in general wireless communication system, the methods were extended at the end of the paper.
