Woodfree increases in September/October

The implementation of price increases for coated woodfree has remained unresolved in the UK. While evidence from the majority shows that prices have generally remained steady during the holiday season, there have been indications that prices increased during the second quarter of 2000 and further increases are expected in September and October. One of the main reasons why suppliers have not gone through with the increase is the euro's weakness. However, prices in Europe are beginning to go up and is expected to affect the UK by September with increases ranging from 5 to 6 percent.
