Influence of the arc efficiency on the power consumption by dc and three-phase ac steel-smelting arc furnaces

摘要
The arc efficiency of three-phase ac and dc steel-smelting arc furnaces with 1-4 electrodes is calculated. It is shown that the arc efficiency of 150-ton dc furnaces is greater than that of three-phase ac furnaces; with increase in the number of electrodes in the dc furnaces, the arc efficiency increases, while the power consumption decreases.
