The influence of serum bovine and egg albumin on the corrosion of pure aluminum in sodium hydroxide solutions

摘要
The Corrosion of pure Al was the subject of tremendous importance due to the increased industrial applications of Al metal. This study reported the results of open-circuit potential, potentiodynamic polarization and cyclic polarization measurements on the corrosion inhibition of pure Al in alkaline solutions using serum bovine albumin and egg albumin. Electrochemical studies showed that there was a significant increase in the inhibition efficiency after addition of bovine and egg albumin, when compared to the case without inhibitor. Serum bovine albumin gave higher inhibition efficiency than egg albumin. © Research India Publications.
