Improved size-reduction techniques

The US DOE's Review Panel (RP) reviews the proposal that the development and application of a large bandsaw-concept can help with the size-reduction of large components during facility deactivation and decommissioning (D & D). Under this proposal, various types of bandsaws, blades, cutting fluids, and radiological containment approaches will be investigated. A close look at the project specifications reveals that the proposal appears to be better suited for consideration with the Large Scale Decommissioning and Dismantling DOE program, hence should not be considered for support.
