摘要
The present analysis deals with the influence of magnetic field and permeable walls on hydromagnetic flow through a channel of smoothly varying gap covered by porous media of infinite thickness. A uniform magnetic field is applied in the direction perpendicular to the motion of the fluid. Based on the geometrical configuration, three approximation methods are developed to get a closed form solution of the problem. Expressions for axial velocity and the pressure gradient for each of the approximations are obtained. These results are applied to understand the characteristics of conducting fluid flows through a smooth constriction. Flow parameters, such as the resistance to flow and the wall shear stress distribution, have been computed for different values of the Hartmann number, the porous parameter, and the slip parameter. It is observed that the resistance to the flow decreases with the increasing values of the physical parameters. The shear stress on the permeable walls decreases when the value of the Hartmann number increases. However, it when increase the value of the porous parameter increases. © 2022 by Begell House, Inc.
