The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is new legislation that governs users’ private data and applies across all member states of the European Union (EU), particularly to all organisations processing the data of EU users, wherever the organisation is geographically based. It came into force on 25 May 2018. © 2019 Elsevier Ltd
