摘要
The number of 2G, 3G and 4G cell sites using satellites to backhaul mobile traffic to mobile core networks is over 60,000 worldwide and is expected to rise considerably over the coming years with further rollout of 4G and the emergence of 5G. This is made possible by the implementation of Digital Video Broadcasting-Return Channel via Satellite (DVB-RCS) standards, the availability of cost-effective Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) satellite transceivers and antenna systems, and the deployment of Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) High Throughput Satellites (HTSs). © 2021 Institute of Telecommunications Professionals.
