摘要
Currently, the mechanical gearbox is used mainly in marine current power generation systems (MCPGS), and gearbox failure is one of the problems affecting the long-term operation of MCPGS. The use of coaxial magnetic gear (CMG) can effectively solve this problem. CMG transfers speed and torque via the magnetic field, which is maintenance-free, high reliability and high efficiency. When the load torque exceeds the pullout torque of CMG, the inherent overload protection ability cuts the connection between the input and output, effectively protecting the MCPGS. The design, implementation and measurements of an MCPGS based on a CMG are presented in this paper. The CMG is the speed-increasing device to connect the marine current turbine (MCT) and the permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG). The rotation of MCT is amplified by a CMG and then converted into electrical energy by a PMSG. The MCPGS based on the CMG is analyzed detailedly by the platform and underwater tests. It has been experimentally proven that the application of CMG in MCPGS is practical and reliable. © 2022, Chinese Institute of Electrical Engineering. All rights reserved.
