摘要
The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has and continues to develop globally harmonized standards that have progressively enhanced the viewing and listening quality of all media. The ITU championed the global switch to digital broadcasting and the introduction of high-definition television (HDTV). It also pioneered ultrahigh-definition television (UHDTV), high-dynamic range television (HDR-TV), and the developing standards for advanced sound systems, which together bring increased realism and a dramatic increase in the quality of images and sound no matter how they are distributed. © 2002 Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers, Inc.
