The necessity of scientifically dividing the grades of CNC machine tools was discussed, the classification principles of CNC machine tools was established, the factors determining the grades of CNC machine tools and the scoring methods were analyzed, and the viewpoint that "customer demand is the only criterion for defining the grades of products" was puts forward. From the perspective of user demands, the concept of Comprehensive Level Number (CLN) was proposed, and the thought that the grades of CNC machine tools were defined by CLN number rather than by the individual technical parameters of the machine tools was presented. Based on the CLN, the definition of high-grade CNC machine tools was given, and the analysis and calculation methods of the CLN number of CNC machine tools were put forward. An example was used to verify the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2023 CIMS. All rights reserved.
