To fully consider the influence of structure modal characteristics of ball screw mechanical transmission on the whole dynamic characteristics of feed drive and servo controller, the state space reduced model of ball screw feed system based on eigenvalue model was established, which could solve the feed system dynamic response under the influence of structure modal and realize the integration with the servo control model. Then the position regulating loop model of servo system based on state space model of ball screw feed system was further built. Moreover, the constrain relationship among the modal frequency, the extremum of open-loop amplitude response and the position loop gain was derived. The influence of structure modal characteristics of ball screw feed system on position loop gain was analyzed, and also the optimal value of position loop gain under the influence of structure eigenvalue mode was obtained. By the practical example, the validity on the modal characteristic extraction calculation base on the state space model of ball screw feed system, the analysis about influence of structure modal characteristics of ball screw feed system on position loop gain, and the optimal value estimation of position loop gain under the effect of structural characteristic modal were all verified. © 2019, Editorial Department of CIMS.
