Sustainable roads project. Honduras invests in road safety

The paper presents the works carried out in the project Corrector de Occidente (Honduras) by the technical assistance formed by the TYPSA-AEC consortium. It is a road rehabilitation project, divided into three lots. The Corredor de Occidente connects the second largest city in the country, San Pedro Sula, in the northwest of Honduras, with the international border crossings with Guatemala and El Salvador, and with the Maya Site of Copân Ruinas, recognized by Unesco, as heritage of Humanity since 1980. The road safety factor has been very present during the three years of duration of the project, through the application of road safety audits during the construction phase, as well as through advisory works for the improvement of the management of road safety in the country. © 2019 Asociacion Espanola de la Carretera.
