摘要
Objective: To determine the prevalence of trochanteric bursitis in patients with grade-I and grade- II knee osteoarthritis (OA). Methodology: This cross-sectional survey employed non-probability convenient sampling, enrolling 384 patients aged 40 to 60 years with grade I and grade II knee OA and consistent symptoms of lateral hip pain. Both genders were selected from the Department of Orthopedic & Physiotherapy of Combined Military Hospital Lahore, Mayo Hospital Lahore, and Jinnah Hospital Lahore. Pain and knee OA were assessed using the WOMAC scale, while prevalence of trochanteric bursitis was measured using the Lower Extremity Functional Scale (LEFS). Data analysis was done using SPSS 26. Results: Mean age of the 384 patients was 46.43 +/- 5.662 years. Based on the WOMAC questionnaire, 33.3% patients reported knee pain, 50% showed stiffness, and 25% had trouble in walking, performing daily living activities. Prevalence of trochanteric bursitis was 36.1% using LEFS. Conclusion: A considerable proportion of knee OA patients may experience additional pain and functional limitations due to the coexistence of trochanteric bursitis.
