Distinguishing between causes of acute optic neuropathy can be a formidable task. Although MOG antibody-associated optic neuritis (MOGAD-ON) and nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION) have distinct underlying etiologies, there can be considerable clinical overlap leading to challenging diagnostic scenarios.
