摘要
On February 6, 2023, two earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.8 and 7.5 occurred in Turkey. While some steel buildings sustained moderate damages in non-structural elements, most of them had little or null structural damage. However, a 7-story steel building in Antakya partially collapsed, which is discussed in this paper. The discussion is based on the design project, previous studies, and a field inspection. Nonlinear analyses were conducted using OpenSees. Nonlinear dynamic analyses were carried out considering ten ground motions recorded by the nearest stations for both orthogonal directions during the earthquake. The distance between the accelerometric stations and the building was less than 33 km, which allowed for a better understanding of the demands placed on the damaged building. In particular, a station located just 0.55 km from the steel building provided valuable data for the analysis.
