摘要
In this survey, we provide a comprehensive study on the assistive technological devices which help visually impaired persons in their day-to-day lives. With various forms of disabilities such as visual, auditory, mobility, or cognitive impairment affecting a significant number of people worldwide, the aim of this study is to enable the blind persons to achieve independence. The primary objective of this work is to provide a concise description of assistive technologies for the visually impaired, along with an exploration of approaches for object detection, text detection, and text-to-speech synthesis. We present detailed discussion on these approaches using both traditional as well as deep learning based techniques. Finally, we conclude with some open opportunities where further research can be carried out.
