摘要
The natural intrinsic phytochemicals present in plants use nanotechnology to the synthesis of nanoparticles possible by reducing the corresponding metallic salts to nanoparticle forms ensuring their therapeutic properties. The current study describes the synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) from leaves, stems, and root extracts of Pelargonium radens. . The nanoparticles synthesized were subjected to characterization by UV-Vis spectroscopy (UV-Vis), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and X-ray powder diffraction (XRD). The synthesized AgNPs were pure crystalline in nature with a size range of 40-60 nm. The FTIR analysis revealed the infrared band of the functional groups from 2360 cm-- 1 to 1047 cm-1 . The present study also investigates the in-vitro anticancer activity of AgNPs synthesized from the root, stem, and leaves of Pelargonium radens plant on breast, cervical, and lung cancer cell lines. The cytotoxicity of AgNPs on HEK-293 normal cell lines was studied by MTT assay. The anticancer activity of the AgNPs synthesized was studied by cell viability assay. The synthesized AgNPs using Pelargonium raden extracts demonstrated higher anticancer activity against cancer cell lines. Further studies will be determining the exact mechanism behind this effective nano treatment.
