摘要
The development of noninvasive glucose sensors is a technology that can improve the lives of people with diabetes. Their design is a very challenging electromagnetic measurement problem as electromagnetic (EM) fields are used to penetrate the skin and varying concentrations of glucose modify the permittivity of the ensemble of human tissue. The objective of this work is to measure the changes in glucose levels via the shift in permittivity by using an antenna placed on the body. Our antenna has been designed to be placed on the skin in the upper shoulder area. Using electromagnetic simulations of frequency dependent material, we have designed the antenna sensor to detect a change in relative permittivity up to +/- 15%. These results are also confirmed with measurements on a human shoulder.
