Distribution network reconfiguration based on opti mal flow mode method is a hot topic in current power system rese arch. The reconstruction method uses the optimal flow algorithm to optimize the structure and parameters of the distribution netw ork, so as to reduce the loss of the network and improve the stabil ity and reliability of the network. This paper introduces some bas ic concepts of optimal flow pattern method and its unique advant ages. Aiming at the example of IEEE standard 33-node distributi on system, matpower program in MATLAB software is used to re alize distribution network reconstruction based on optimal flow mode method. The main reconstruction ideas are as follows: The switch on the branch with the smallest current flowing in the opti mal flow mode is selected, then the power flow of the newly gener ated network is recalculated, and the switch on the branch with t he smallest current flowing in the optimal flow mode is selected a gain, and the process is repeated until the network is restored to t he radial structure. Then we compare the network loss before an d after the reconstruction, in which the network loss decreases fro m 0.203MW to 0.157MW (reduced by 22.6%), which verifies the effectiveness of the optimal flow mode method in the distribution network reconstruction. At the same time, disconnect branches 7-8, 32-33, 21-22, 14-15 and 25-29, which can effectively reduce the loss of the power grid. Finally, the future development trend of di stribution network reconfiguration based on optimal flow mode method is prospected, which will bring more technical innovation and value creation to the power industry.
