Environment and Human Rights in the Light of the Jurisprudence of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights

The article examines the content of various human rights framework instruments of the Inter -American system to ascertain the situation of the right to the environment; and the interpretation made by the Inter -American Court of Human Rights, from the beginning of its operation to the present, to incorporate and develop the right to environment in the InterAmerican Human Rights system, through its judgments and advisory opinions but without losing sight of the fact that the function of the Court is the interpretation and protection of rights established in the American Convention, particularly civil and political rights.
