Evaluation and Management of Rectal Prolapse

Rectal prolapse is a condition which can significantly impact quality of life. Management is surgical reconstruction, and it is imperative that patients have a clear understanding of what symptoms can and cannot be reliably improved. There is not gold standard for operative approach but procedures should be tailored to the specific patient. Multi -disciplinary management given the frequent co -existence of other pelvic prolapse diagnoses will often offer patients a more complete reconstruction.
