The genus Dasyhippus was established by Uvarov 1930, with Dasyhippus escalerai (Bolivar, 1899) as type species. Until now, Dasyhippus include 5 species (Fischer von Waldheim, 1846; Bolivar, 1899; Zheng et al., 2012; Chang, 1939; Karabag, 1953; Yin et al., 2003), all of them are distributed in Palaearctic region. During specimen identification conducted on samples collected from Daluoshan Mountain in Ningxia during 2006, a new species of Dasyhippus was discovered. The type specimens are deposited in the School of Life Sciences, Hebei University, Baoding, China.
