摘要
Ti-6Al-4V is the most commonly used titanium alloy in aerospace, automotive, and biomedical industries because of its excellent strength, low modulus of elasticity, high corrosion resistance, good weldability and heat treatability. In this study, numerical investigation is conducted to assess the effect of pulse energy level and operating temperature on residual stress induced on Ti6Al-4V workpiece during nanosecond laser shock peening with 5 ns laser pulse width. The commercial FEM software package ABAQUS is employed to conduct FEM simulation of single shot laser peening of Ti-6Al-4V. Totally, eight laser pulse energy levels and six operating temperatures are selected. The FEM model for laser peening can provide insightful guidance for selecting optimal peening parameters and operating temperatures.
