摘要
In recent times, there has been a growing effort to develop horizontal platforms that can accommodate multiple vertical systems, aiming to tackle the design, implementation, and maintenance challenges associated with vertical product-as-a-service (vPaaS) systems. The main issue faced by most vPaaS systems is the lack of interoperability and loose coupling, both of which are essential for achieving reusability of such systems. As a result, vPaaS systems have traditionally been developed in isolation, serving specific domain contexts, and following a monolithic design pattern that tightly integrates the frontend, backend, and databases into a single application. Initially, this approach seemed acceptable to developers particularly when domain experts are responsible for providing the design requirements. However, it has become evident that certain requirements often overlap with other domains. Thus, in this paper, we propose a servitization platform-as-a-service (sPaaS) model to improve reusability, efficiency, and maintainability in a multi-tenant servitization platform. Our model aims to address the challenges associated with tenant ownership, innovation, adoption, and maintenance burdens by introducing beneficial schemes as part of the sPaaS. These schemes will incentivize innovation and create new online job opportunities for artisans, plumbers, and software engineers. These professionals will then be responsible for conducting repairs, replacements, and upgrades on behalf of tenants and sPaaS providers.
