<正> In September 1985, a new Very-Long-Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) system was established between Shanghai, China and Kashima, Japan. And the first joint Sino-Japanese VLBI experiment was successfully conducted on this baseline. In this experiment, the baseline vector between Shanghai (SO) and Kashima (KA) has been measured, the precision of the baseline length and the components of the baseline vector reaching 3 cm and better than 10 cm, respectively. The position of Shanghai station in the global VLBI coordinate system with a precision of less than 20 cm has also been estimated. This paper will present the results of this experiment.
