Fatigue verification of crane runway beams according to Eurocode 3

In contrast to common steel structures, crane runways are cyclically loaded (fatigue exposure). Crane runway beams, the subject of this paper, are essential parts of these structures whose fatigue resistance usually has to be checked. This check requires some crane runway specific design rules be-yond the specifications of DIN EN 1993-1-1 that are summa-rized in DIN EN 1993-6. An overview about the basis of the checking procedure, the fatigue load action, the fatigue load effects and the verification formats is provided, finally followed by new developments of the detail catalogue in terms of crane runway related constructional details. © Ernst & Sohn Verlag für Architektur und technische Wissenschaften GmbH & Co.
