摘要
Wetland biomass has the potential to serve a variety of purposes, including resource recovery, environmental restoration and as a sustainable feedstock for energy recovery through bio-refineries; however, its commercialization to valuable and cost effective products is one of the challenges of pragmatic importance in the present day research. Wetland biomass can be used to make affordable activated carbon for waste water treatment and additionally utilized to make vermicomposts which can improve soil fertility and increase crop production thereby ensure food security. This article explores the advantages of wetland biomass and its role in sustainable environmental resource management. Wetland ecosystems offer integrated services such as bio-energy generation, irrigation, and bio-fertilizer production. Treatment approaches are discussed to enhance the utilization of wetland biomass for manufacturing specific products and achieving high yields of energy, bio-fertilizers, or bioadsorbents.
