Preparation and Electromagnetic Shielding Properties of Ti3C2Tx MXene/ Glass Fiber Composites

The Ti3C2Tx MXene was successfully etched via situ HF method. Glass fiber was modified with dopamine. The Ti3C2Tx/Glass fiber composites were prepared by the vacuum filtration, the EMI SE of the samples with different Ti3C2Tx loadings was studied. The results show that the peak at 002 is moved from 2θ=9.5° to 2θ=6.1°, and peak at 104 of Ti3AlC2 disappears after etching by in-situ HF method. The Ti3C2Tx is successful obtained. SEM image indicates that the Ti3C2Tx nanosheets are successfully attached to the surface of the glass fiber, which improve the conductive network of the glass fiber. Electromagnetic wave energy and Ti3C2Tx loaded glass fiber possess electromagnetic shielding effect, due to the high conductivity of Ti3C2Tx and a large amount of electrons on the surface, which induces that contribute to ohmic losses with electromagnetic waves. The maximal electromagnetic shielding effectiveness of the Ti3C2Tx loading of 2.55 mg/cm2 is 55.1 dB in the frequency range of 2~18 GHz, and the surface resistance is 0.95 Ω/sq. © 2020, Science Press.
