Test results in past investigations are analyzed on behavior of members having unbonded longitudinal steels, and it is found that the maximum load of these members can be evaluated by using flexural strength. Taking this finding into account, equations for predicting ultimate flexural strength of precast concrete members prestressed by unbonded tendons. These equations are based on a lower bound theory using a rectangular concrete stress block. Theoretical results obtained from the equations agree well with the test results of members that fail in shear as well as those in flexure. © 2021 Architectural Institute of Japan.
