Study on Dynamic Property Parameter Analysis of Composite Trough Girder with Corrugated Steel Webs

Tests and finite element analysis were conducted to examine the dynamic property of the composite trough girder with corrugated steel webs. A 1:4 scale prestressed concrete composite trough girder with corrugated steel webs was prepared for the test, and the natural frequencies and vibration modes of the composite girders with corrugated steel webs and concrete webs respectively were numerically simulated. Based on the finite element model, the impacts of concrete base thickness, upper flange width and layout of cross beams on the natural frequencies and vibration modes of the two types of composite trough girders were analyzed and compared. It is shown that there is a minimal difference between the lower-mode (first 5 modes) natural frequencies of the composite trough girders with corrugated steel webs and with concrete webs, less than 10%. The natural frequencies of higher modes (from the fifth mode upward) are significantly enhanced, when it comes to the 10th-mode, the natural frequencies of the composite girder with corrugated steel webs are 68% of those of the composite girder with concrete webs. The thickness of the concrete base exerts a notable impact on the torsional natural frequencies of the composite trough girder with corrugated steel webs, while the impact of the width of upper flange is minimal. The layout of cross beams between the girders also has minimal impacts on the vertical bending and torsional natural frequencies of the composite trough girder with corrugated steel webs. © 2022, Journal Press, China Railway Bridge Science Research Institute, Ltd.
