Design of early warning system for strawberry diseases in internet of things based on association rules

Diseases seriously affect the cultivation and production of strawberry in the greenhouse. According to the management needs of modern greenhouses, this paper designed and implemented an Internet of Things strawberry disease early warning system based on association rules aiming at current diseases in ordinary strawberry greenhouses. The system was divided into three parts: greenhouse environment data collection, intelligent decision-making and information interaction. The sensors were reasonably distributed in the greenhouse to collect environmental parameters. The system first collected greenhouse environment data and smoothed the singular data. The environment data were then uploaded to the cloud server. On the other hand, based on the data mining technology of association analysis, the knowledge base of growth suitability and the rule base of disease pre-judgment required for strawberry production were obtained. The system made decision reasoning based on the knowledge rule base and the collected information. Finally, the strawberry in the user’s greenhouse was monitored in real-time and provided disease warning and solution through the APP. The system has been successfully deployed in a common plastic greenhouse in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, China. The test results showed that the system ran smoothly and can be used for early warning. Three relatively independent parts of the system improved system scalability and maintainability. This system provided users with personalized and professional information services while helping them to avoid the huge losses caused by diseases. © 2019, Asian Association for Agricultural Engineering.
