Research purposes: The inverse Fourier transform method is a simple and effective method for numerical simulation of track random irregularities. In order to reflect the probability distribution characteristics of track irregularity spectrum; based on the inverse Fourier transform method; a new random variable is introduced; and an improved inverse Fourier transform method is proposed. The method accuracy is verified by power spectrum comparison and frequency point power spectrum distribution test. Research conclusions: (1) The mean and percentile spectra of the track random irregularity sample set generated by the method proposed in this paper; based on the inverse Fourier transform method and considering the probability distribution; are consistent with the original orbital spectrum of track irregularities. (2) Compared with the inverse Fourier transform method and triangular series method; the power spectrum distribution law of each frequency point of the irregular sample set generated by the method in this paper can better satisfy the original track irregularity spectrum distribution law. (3) In the case of the same number of samples; the method in this paper has better statistical accuracy error than the triangular series method. (4) The research results can provide a more accurate numerical simulation method for the simulation of random track irregularities in vehicle-track coupled dynamics. © 2020; Editorial Department of Journal of Railway Engineering Society.
