ACUTE IDIOPATHIC TUBULOINTERSTITIAL NEPHRITIS AND UVEITIS SYNDROME

Two patients, 13 and 60 years old, developed renal insufficiency and anterior uveitis after several weeks suffering from a general adaptation syndrome. Renal biopsy showed tubulointerstitial nephritis accompanied by cellular infiltrates of lymphocytes and plasmatic cells. No cause could be identified despite extensive clinical and laboratory investigations, so they were included in the tubulointerstitial nephritis and uveitis syndrome. Both patients received steroids with complete recovery of their uveitis and renal function. Both had a relapse of uveitis without renal functional impairment. Now, 18 and 45 months after diagnosis, they are asymptomatic.
