摘要：
This article seeks to investigate the political ideas of the Scottish historian and humanist scholar George Buchanan. He does not hold the view, so common among Calvinists of his time, that the only lawful government is a theocracy. A peculiar importance attach to Buchanan's political theory because of its influence on the development of Puritan, Huguenot and Presbyterian political thought.
