A TEST OF THE VALIDITY OF THE WORK-ENVIRONMENT INVENTORY

The validity of the Work Environment Inventory (WEI) was tested by examining the relationship between mean ratings of WEI obstacles and stimulants to creativity scales, and perceptions of organizational creativity. The results show that those who rated their work environments as highly creative had significantly different mean scale scores on the WEI than those who rated their work environment as low in creativity. These results are consistent with the assertion that the WEI discriminates between different levels of perceived creativity in the work environment.
