PEDIATRIC IDIOPATHIC ANAPHYLAXIS - ADDITIONAL CASES AND EXTENDED OBSERVATIONS

Pediatric Idiopathic Anaphylaxis (IA) was previously described in 3 patients. This report extends the series to 12 cases in an institution where the adult cases are in excess of 350 cases. The pediatric IA cases have a similar spectrum of severity as adult cases, and the classification of IA applies to children. The youngest case had the onset at age 3. Control and remission can be induced by prednisone. Corticosteroid-dependent IA may occur. One case of malignant IA was identified with subsequent improved control. In general, the prognosis for pediatric IA is favorable when the diagnosis has been established.
