摘要
Agriculture is the most significant sector meeting the food demands of people and large portion of food demand is supplied from irrigated lands. Therefore, efficient water use at proper amounts and proper times is particularly important in irrigation schemes. Both excessive and deficit amounts can have adverse impacts on plant yields and qualities. Therefore, water use is continuously assessed in irrigation schemes to find out possible problems in advance and to propose solutions for those problems. In this study, four benchmarking performance indicators developed by International Water Management Institute (IWMI) indicating incomes per unit area and water and the other water use efficiency indicators were used together to assess the water use efficiencies of irrigation schemes over trans boundary basins. Gross production value per unit command area, gross production value per unit irrigated area, gross production value per unit irrigation supply and per unit water consumed, relative water supply and irrigation ratio were determined and relevant results were discussed.
